“…[W]e support all the proposed changes that would help to streamline the NEPA process and add clarity and uniformity to those agencies tasked with preparing NEPA documentation. Michigan has 20 million acres of forest land with 249,218 acres of Federal forest land within that are in need of forest restoration work that includes thinning the forest. Under the current status quo of NEPA regulations, we will continue to watch more and more of these acres/forests decimate, releasing millions of tons of CO2 in the environment while our bedrock of environmental laws, the National Environmental Policy Act, continues to be the largest impediment to allowing us to properly manage and improve the health of those forests.”
