“CTIA supports the NEPA’s objectives and CEQ’s goal to modernize and clarify the NEPA regulations to facilitate more efficient, effective, and timely reviews by Federal agencies. The U.S. wireless industry is expected to invest as much as $275 billion nationwide to deploy 5G, providing a $500 billion boost to the economy and creating three million new jobs. However, lengthy and costly regulatory reviews remain a substantial barrier to the deployment of the infrastructure necessary to meet consumers’ growing demand for mobile broadband and to support next-generation 5G networks. CTIA therefore commends CEQ for the steps it has taken to date to promote efficiencies in the NEPA process.”
